Traffic Offence Pricing
Cost Involved in Representing You For Traffic Offences
Our General initial consultation fee here is applicable in traffic offences, however, where your matter goes beyond ordinary consultation, we charge you a fixed fee in certain offences, but most serious offences require disbursements (other expenses), like instructing barristers or obtaining third party reports to prove your case in court if there need to explore that stage.
Meanwhile, there are significant number of complex traffic offences from the list below, that requires quick legal representation which fees are charged according to the nature of offence, experience of the lawyer dealing with the case, location of the offence and its complexity.
The different driving offences estimate of costs will be discussed at your first consultation. Please be aware that these prices exclude VAT and any other associated disbursements, which usually would be discussed with you before they are incurred during the process of your case.
Disbursement Cost
There are circumstances where additional fees may apply – although these are usually optional. It is very difficult to list every possible situation where an additional fee may arise during a defence of a criminal prosecution. Much will depend on the investigation by the police and the extent of disclosure made by the CPS, along with the defences that arise.
For example, if the defence of your case could benefit from a scientific expert report we will explain the reasons to you, along with the additional fee for the report. You then have the choice whether to commission such a report. Usually an average simple expert report in a drink drive case costs between £650 and £1,500 excluding VAT, medium to complex cases, where accident occurs and causes injury or death, as a result of driving under the influence, scientific expert reports could range between £1,500 up to £10,000 or more.

Initial consultation covers advice, by either telephone or physical presence at our offices. This will include initial advice on possible defences and likely sentence, if pleading guilty and finally, your instructions to progress, if you are satisfied with the advice

Guilty Plea Representation
This is usually based on our hourly rate, if it does not require physical court attendance, since you might probably just want advice on the possible outcome and by helping to complete the court documentation and prepare a positive mitigation in order to possibly reduce magistrates’ sanctioned costs. But if we are to attend court for any reason, the price range is between £600 and £1500

Written Guilty Plea is up to £500
In the case of we are writing mitigation for your guilty plea, I addition to our consultation, this fee includes managing your case to a conclusion after submission of the written plea. This will additionally include preparing a letter in mitigation and communicating with the court on your behalf.

Court appearance for defending your licence on (exceptional hardship) - Up to £1,500
In cases where you are required to give evidence to protect your licence (often called “exceptional hardship cases”), this will include conference as required and the preparation of a written submission to court to assist your evidence, attending you on the day at court and presenting your case to the court. We will always advise on your rights of appeal, as necessary.

For Speeding Trial: Up to £1,500 with guilty plea

Drink driving, including being in charge while drunk and failure to provide specimen: £2,000 - £5,000 trial / £750 if pleading guilty.

Driving under the Influence of Drugs, including in charge and failure to provide a specimen: £3,000 - £5,000 for trial or £750 if pleading guilty.

Careless driving: £1,500 - £3,000 for trial or £750 if pleading guilty.

Use of Mobile Phone whilst driving: £1,000 - £3,000 for trial or £750 if pleading guilty.

Failure to provide driver’s identity: £1,000 - £3,000 for trial or £750 if pleading guilty.

Failure to stop or report accident: £1,000 - £3,000 for trial or £750 if pleading guilty.

Driving without insurance: £1,000 - £3,000 for trial or £750 if pleading guilty.

Disqualification: £1,500 - £3,500 for trial or £750 if pleading guilty.
